The brief, in full.

This unique collaboration brought to life many incredible ideas to help families manage juvenile diabetes. We created a new Disney character, CoCo, a monkey living with diabetes, as a friendly guide through the everyday realities of care.

I helped create children's book content, as well as content for Family.com web education and a matching game featuring Disney characters that taught        diabetes-care tips alongside play.

I also designed the Orlando convention experience for the public partnership announcement, later housed at Eli Lilly's Indianapolis campus.

What needed to change.

Make a difficult medical reality approachable and engaging for kids and families without talking down to them. Marry the joy of Disney with the educational guidance of Eli Lilly.

How the work moved.

A character kids trust

CoCo, a monkey with Type 1 diabetes, that kids could identify with immediately as a companion who normalizes daily care instead of lecturing.

Play that teaches

Built matching games and event space content,  as well as Family.com education that wove diabetes-care tips into activities kids already enjoy.

An experience launch

Designed the Orlando convention experience for the public partnership announcement, later housed at Eli Lilly in Indianapolis.

The result.

A complete world of child and family educational content presented through the entertaining Disney lens,  and a launch experience that makes diabetes care feel manageable and hopeful.
